The San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) has released the results of its 25th annual judging, which took place from April 11 to 13. The competition, run by The Tasting Alliance, is the largest spirit competition in North America, with judges tasting more than 5,000 entries this year. From those entries, more than 3,000 medals were awarded, including more than 600 Double Golds.
The SFWSC is a particularly important competition for American whiskey producers; more than 1,600 whiskeys were judged this year, two-thirds of them American. Those include classic categories such as bourbon and rye as well as more emergent ones, such as American single malt and blended whiskey.
The Tasting Alliance also released the results of the 2025 San Francisco Ready to Drink Competition, held concurrently with the SFWSC. The competition was launched in 2021 as a result of the rapid growth of the ready-to-drink (RTD) sector, and a wide variety of ready-to-drink beverages are evaluated each year. This year, more than 300 entries received medals.
