For more than two centuries, The Macallan has set the benchmark for Scotch whisky. Behind the quality and character of every dram is exceptional expertise in sherry oak-seasoned casks, perfected since 1824. That same reverence for craft extends beyond The Macallan’s aging excellence with a brand-new look led by graphic design visionary David Carson.
The new label—displayed across the Double Cask 30 Years Old, Sherry Oak 30 Years Old, and the Sherry Oak 25 Years Old bottles—features the symbols that define The Macallan’s first 200 years while honoring the whisky maker’s vision of the future. Inside the bottle, the distinctive flavor that draws people around the world to The Macallan’s Timeless Collection remains the same.
It starts with care in production. The sherry-seasoned European oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, are some of the rarest in the Scotch whisky industry. Each cask is individually evaluated by The Macallan team, ensuring only whiskies of exceptional depth, rarity, and prestige are selected.

“For the higher age statements within the Timeless Collections, the whisky mastery team creates the whiskies in very small batches,” says Kirsteen Campbell, the master whisky maker at The Macallan. “It’s important to understand the characteristics of each individual cask and to create consistency over the years.”
The Macallan Sherry Oak 25 Years Old loses up to one-third of the spirits inside through evaporation. What’s added are layers of oak, spice, and dried fruits. The Macallan Sherry Oak 30 Years Old, the pinnacle of the Sherry Oak range, spends another five years in those rare cases. Up to 40 percent of the spirit goes to the angel’s share before the whisky mastery team hand-selects each cask for depth and richness in oak, spice, stem ginger, and orange notes.
“I’m looking for the elegant balance between the richness of the oak, but also the lovely, sweet aromas coming through from some of our rarest casks,” says Campbell.
Finally, there is The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old, the oldest and rarest expression in the collection. Each year, the whisky mastery team hand-selects these casks by individually assessing the decades-old spirits for aroma, taste, and mouthfeel. The fill evaporates up to 40 percent, leaving a spirit with remarkable intensity balanced by American and European oak.
While the Timeless Collection remains defined by its signature consistency, The Macallan ushers in a new era with a design evolution grounded in its legacy. The re-designed Sherry Oak and Double Cask range, including 25- and 30-year-old whiskies, will be available in the coming months.
